saying goodbye to some old friends
after buying records since 1986 i,ve finally gone and flogged the lot in one quick go a few hours ago. £700 to show for all those years may not be much to show but i,m happy enough and as i,m off on my holidays soon comes in real handy.could have got much more if i could be bothered with ebay but fuck that..i did keep my false liberty 7in to see how much it,ll go for just for the hell of it...still got more old hardcore than i can ever hear in a lifetime on cdr and the pc..

Was it just the 12 inch vinyl? Or everything? CD's 7 inch the whole lot?
Who bought them! They going to end up in Rockaway or what? Wish you told me before hand. There's no doubt a few i'd have bought off you. Take it easy butt.

its cool i aint played a record for last 7months and then that was only to upload it to the blog.
beddis had um all of me john only had a handful of singles never really bothered buying um just lp,s.
still have hundreds of cds and cdrs files on pc etc so still got my music..been thinking bout selling um for ages so needed some money fast and off they went...NO REGRETS boys

I got rid of everything I could find as an mp3, barring things of great resale value. I like the idea of not having to store and move so much stuff. I also donated most of my fanzines to the Operation Phoenix people. All they did was rot in boxes. No regrets at all.
Brave decision, one I've been considering for a while myself, I dunno though, I sorted through a load a while back and put em in a pile, but the pile's become smaller as most have found their way back into the record boxes in the cuboard. I reckon I must be a bit anal, probably taken away from the tit too soon, cos I don't like throwing or getting rid of anything, even for cash, but you may have inspired me to have a bit of a cull in the collections. Take care, stay free and keep on keeping on.

you know the only record i,ve kept is the split double picture disc lost and found put out of sick of it all and the rykers lps that i bought the day my son was born 14 years ago lol and i,ve seen someone trying to sell that on ebay for £150...i,d alwayys hated cds still do but like the idea of having all my stuff on my pc(backed up on a shit load of dvds and cdr,s)appealed to me more and more the last year, so just did,nt see the need to have all my records,thou must admit i,ll miss um cos nothing like the look and feel of a lp(and in some cases better sound than the re-issue on cd)...if i,d never discovered blogs i,d ave never considered selling um thou i must admit...
I have sold records and cds in the past and lived to regret it. Especially when my hard drive crashed last year and I lost 10 years worth of mp3 files. You better back up your hard drive 3x.
yeah dave i,ve um all backed up,had a few scares already with my pc b4 i flogged the records..so aint going down that road must be gutting to lose 10yrs worth!...prob wil regret selling um one day,i flogged um to my mate(singer from old local punk band the COWBOY KILLERS) who sold all his years ago too LOL....

Bernard, beside discovering your cool blog, i must admit i was shocked when i saw those pics!
I only own a hundred or about Lps and although i don't play them often for the same reasons you mentioned (plus i ripped most of them already), i could never take such a radical decision i swear.
They represent such good memories that it would break my heart to wash them out of my life...
Anyway,just hoping you won't regret it someday but i feel bad for you somehow.

holy shit, well i can't blame you i did exactly this about 3 or 4 years ago, to be honest i am not sure i would have hold on to 80% of all those records (i sold about the same amount of records - and got about the same amount of cash for it, spent within a forthnight, naturally)
in recent years i have started to build up a new collection, but its all friends bands, bands i see live, and new demos and such
incidently i made a MASSIVE clearance of abundant mp3s earlier this year - deleted some 50 GB of my harddrive - all of it punk etc...and i reckon i could probably do the same with another 50GB, when do I listen to all those mp3s anyway?
